Sources
of Dalit theology.
1. Scripture
Along
with the Bible dalit theologizing dalit stories, proverbs, songs, legends,
tradition functions as scripture. Maria Arul Raja says, all these functions the
role of scripture as two ways.
a)
These sources guides or leads them as divine.
b)
These sources gives them the idea about human life.
They
regard ' S' as scripture inspired word of God, and 's' as dalit scripture such
as legend, stories, proverbs and songs.
Oral tradition is also considered to be a
scripture. Dalit literature also function like scripture.
2. Traditions:
A.M.
Abraham Ayoorkuzhie says, dalit tradition particularly
dalit protest traditions, is one of the sources of dalit theologizing. He used
some examples for this: Vedamanikkam, was primarily who brought missionary to
southern part of Kerala. Raja Naiker of Ditt.
3. Culture:
Sathianathan
Clarke, in his book ' dalit and subaltern ......Dalit culture must constitute
one of the sources of reality theologizing. Dalit cultural practices and ethos
must be address. He used the term Jesus as Drum. Majority of drummer comes from
dalit background. Drum is the party and parcel of dalit life. When they beat
the drum they invoke the presence of God. Clarke interpret Jesus in line with
dalit culture ethos and practices.

History of dalit:
According to James Massey, history-of
dalit helps them to know their identity and their past life. Sundar Clarke
(Son of S. Clarke) argues, it can not be armchair theology or verandah theology
or shadow theology but it have to be a theology work out from the history of
suffering.

Experienced
A.P.
Nirmal argues that, Dalit experienced is the primary datum
for dalit theologising. Dalit theology emerges out of Dalit experienced from
their historical consciousness, their encounter with other experiences with caste,
church, society and divine.
